So here we are.. The final week is here and the project is…

So here we are.. The final week is here and the project is almost done. Is amazing how this course went so fast. We had so many things to do that I thought maybe we wouldn’t have enough time. But we did! And we already have all the footage and all the photographys that we need to make de video. We were very excited to make the stop motion part but did not know how much it would be exhausting. We spent the whole day in college doing the video. But the effort was worth! We really enjoyed the result. It’s really cute and nice!

I think this whole course was a long road of learning. And I’m not talking about only the subjects of the couse. I think we learned how to understand  and deal with other people, how to work with a client, how to be focus and let go of somethings, how to make a stop motion, and other things. It was a really good journey that brought many teachings to me. I’m very grateful for all of this and I’m looking forward for what’s to come. =)

Design thinking..

The use of networks and online communities can be very good to a project in many different aspects. You can understand what the customer wants, what the market is demanding, you can have feedback towards your project, you can find out new solutions through the share of knowledge with other people that has the same interests as you, you can actually make your project thanks to donation of other people on those online communities and networks. But to all of this work you need to be authentic, have a good community to embrace your idea and have a nice preparation before starting throwing your project into this networks and online communities.
In the design world you need to be able to sell your project by the project it self, so know about marketing is really needed. You need to understand who is you audience, not only to sell your product but also to make your project a reality(like in a crowd funding situation or even a sponsor). You need to sell your project not only to de user and that is something that sometimes is forgotten. Before the user there are many people that your project pass through and that need to be convinced that the product is good. There is the company that is going to manufacture, that can be a different company that is going to sell, even the buyer can be a different person that the person that is actually going to use the product and you need to sell it to all of those people. So marketing is really needed. And more that that how to relate the marketing actions to all the step that the product pass through. Than I think we need more that just concepts. We need to know how to deal with all of this in the reality. So maybe we need to learn the concepts by reading about them and than we should use it, test it to really understand what it is.

Crowd production: nobody is alone in their dream. The idea of…

Crowd production: nobody is alone in their dream.

The idea of having someone else helping in your dream sometimes can be a bit hard, after all is your dream, your project, you, you, you. But the reality is that no one is a island and sometimes your dream actually can be someone else dream too. Maybe someone just want to help because they believe in you and in your cause. The idea of crowdfunding is growing each day. Bands, NGOs and other people are making projects become reality thanks to the crowdfunding. If you prepare yourself, if you find a group that is as enthusiastic as you and you make is authentic the funding part can be really easy, and you can actually end it up with more money than you expected. I really believe that crowdfunding and crowdsourcing are good ideas that are growing more and more in our society. They are participating more on this kinds of projects, maybe this is the future of all projects. Instead of finding fund in companies, projects are finding money on their own custumers. Instead of making a project all alone you are making the project with other people that are as interested as you on some subject. Participating is now becoming the word of the future. Nobody is alone in their dreams you just have to find those people that have the same dreams as you.

Thinking about crowdsourcing the idea of collective knowledge to develop solutions and create products is awesome. some company consults a crowd of production, announces their problem and determine a price. People and businesses of this cloud arise with the proposed (or the finished solution) and you choose the best. And these solutions can come from amateurs to the most experienced. And this can be really good. The amount of good ideas that can appear is huge and you can find some great innovation and new talented amateurs. But everything isn’t perfect. You need to be careful concerning the exploration of work, sometimes companies wants others to make everything for them and is too much. Other thing that needs attention is to see if the value proposition is good for both parties. Maybe someone is earning more money than they deserve.

Go team! After a few weeks, thinking about our team work is…

Go team!

After a few weeks, thinking about our team work is kinda cool to reflect a little bit and see how much we are developing as a group. I believe that we are a good team, we bond together really well. We know how to listen and we know how and when we need to talk to each other and we try to always make everybody understands what we are talking and if somebody doesn’t we explain in another way. I think that the different languages that we have is sometimes a problem because sometimes we don’t know how to translate our ideas, but we are really lucky to have people that speaks more than one language in common. For example I speak Portuguese like Luiza, Spanish is kinda similar so Ali understands a bit of Portuguese and me and Luiza understand a bit of Spanish too. Kili and Noran speaks German and Noran and Charlotte speak French. So we always makes each others understand what is going on. And that is awesome!! Nobody is ever clueless.
I think that everybody is doing their rolls pretty well. So this is a good thing too. I believe that we made a good decision by giving tasks to be done every week. The thing that I think we need to improve is maybe be more focused, not because we are not focused in the project but because we have too much ideas and we wanna make them all! Sometimes is hard to decide what to let go and what to keep, what is possible and what we can let for later. But I think that after our meeting with Nancy this week this focus thing will be better.

I’m really looking forward to see how things will unfold on the next few weeks! We have many things to do to make this project a reality.

Continuing about networking and social medias..

As I already said on the last post I love social medias, but the thing is that I love being a watcher of the social media.

I don’t interact as much as those websites allows me to. I really enjoy those medias that are for many people, that has too many information, where things are souted to there world for who wants to see.
And I like those kinds because they are the ones that can bring much more knowloge for us. Like on facebook, the most interaction that a have is liking posts or commenting on some friends things.
On Tumblr I reblog and like many stuff, but if you stop to really look how much posts I written there aren’t many.
I’m really confortable being a spectator. I’m not a group enthusiast, most of the groups that I have on facebook I have never even written anything.
But this is because of my personality. I’m a observer, I like to keep my things to my self.

About online tools..

Well, I’m a network freak! I participate at almost all social websites.. I have Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Vimeo, LookBook and many others that I simply don’t use!
I start up at some new and cool website and in a few week I just forget that it existes.. But because of how the world is right now and how my life is at the moment that I really use some of them. Like facebook. I don’t actually like facebook but is a really easy way to talk to people, to participate in communities and be updated about how are my friends lives.
The other one that I use the most is Tumblr. It’s my absolutely favorite network of all. There is so much interesting stuff on there that I can spend all day long looking to my dashboard. Is a place that brings so much surprises! When your down there are a lot of really fun stuff that simply pops up on there an makes your day! There are days that you are just looking for some inspiring phase, or picture and tadaam it appears right in front of you. Like tumblr, Pinterest is a pretty good website too, if you know how to use it! There is so many stuff in there that you can be lost or you can simply look only to the pictures and forget about the link that come with it. Skype is a network that I already used a lot.. But now that I’m really far from home it is the one of the most conforting things in the world! My family, my boyfriend and my friends are the distance of a click of a button! YouTube is another network that can be full of surprises. You can discover new music and can see really funny videos or can learn something super useful on it.
I’m really not an expert on this websites, okay, I know some HTML codes because of Tumblr themes and that makes me a little bit more advanced the others, but isn’t that much of advanced.
The thing is that most of those tools are easy to learn and have pretty practical interfaces, making everything better for everybody.

P.S.: The illustrating photo is from a Skype session with the best boyfriend ever! <3

Where are we? So the being lost thing isn’t over, but I’m…

Where are we?

So the being lost thing isn’t over, but I’m walking towards that. Things are becoming more clear each day. We have our rolls and the things that we have to do and that’s really good to not be so confused. Now I think it’s only missing talking to our NGO so we can really know what they expect us to do and then we can actually start doing thing.

Now about what we did today: Spidergram!

We did a spidergram that shows how things are right now and how we want things to be in the next step. We put some things that are necessary to this work and put how important those things are.

I thing this is something that is going to change every week (and so maybe we should doing every week to see the progress we are making) as the project develops all those things are going to chage positions of importantness. So this is a pretty good way to not only keep track of thing but to motivate our selves to be better.

First things first..

Hi, my name is Dárien Stephanie, I’m 22 years old and I’m from Brazil.

To think about this post is kinda hard cuz, well, I’m feeling a bit confused. I don’t know maybe is the language, maybe is all this news things around me that is making me feel like this, but one thing I know I’m a fast learner and I’m very persistent. I always do my best to achieve my goal and that is what I thing I can bring to the 2014 Project Community.

Now about expectations.. Well that is tough too.. I try to not expect any thing from the world because I normally dream a loooot and so expect a lot of things and in this 22 years of my life one thing that I learned is that expectations can lead to disappointment in some cases, so I started to not expect and than life became super awesome because I can see that somethings are good that if I was expecting something I wouldn’t see. Then I think my expectations are the surprises and the new knowledge that this course can bring.

More that expectations, I have questions..

What will I learn here? How this will help me to figure out more about society and about the relationship between designer and client? How I can show to people that the project that I will do is important enough to they care about it? How can I see and understand what motivates people? How can I realise what I my part on all of this? How can I do all this things that I need to? How can I understand all those things that I have to understand?
